As the official website of the Republic of Iceland describes: “Iceland is a country of sharp contrasts. A place where fire and ice co-exist. Where dark winters are offset by the summer’s midnight sun. A country where insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture.”
Iceland has a population of only 332,529. Its capital Reykjavik is a six-hour flight from New York and a three-hour flight from London. Reykjavik is home to the two-thirds of Icelanders and one of those places where you can’t decide it is a big town or a small city.
